Find Healthy Testosterone Levels in Q&A
Low Testosterone levels in a healthy female? I'm 20 years old and started experiencing extreme fatigue in the past six months; I have to take naps every day and end up sleeping 12 hours. I have been to the doctor: I have a swollen thyroid and low testosterone levels, and I'm going to have to take more tests. I don't understand the testosterone levels--I have a very high libido, which doesn't seem to be in accordance with what I've read about testosterone levels. Anyone know what low testosterone levels could indicate other than problems with libido (because I have no problems)? Thanks

nexteltom17 replied: "Testosterone is a male hormone, females have Estrogen"

xjsmommy replied: "Try this web site there is not a lot of info out there"

SteviJan replied: "Just so you know, whoever said men have testosterone and women have estrogen is wrong. Women also have testosterone. Women don't have it to the extreme men do, of course, or we'd be hairy, chest-thumping, belching and farting apes like they are. We do have testosterone, though, in addition to estrogen. And since testosterone is linked at least peripherally to libido, it does seem a bit odd that you have a low testosterone level yet a healthy libido. You should have your endocrine function further evaluated to find out what exactly is going on in your body."

no_frills replied: "Adult testosterone effects Adult testosterone effects are more clearly demonstrable in males than in females, but are likely important to both sexes. Some of these effects may decline as testosterone levels decline in the later decades of adult life. * Maintenance of muscle mass and strength * Maintenance of bone density and strength * Libido and clitoral engorgement/penile erection frequency. * Mental and physical energy"

When you lose weight, do your testosterone levels go down significantly? When you get down to a healthy weight do your testosterone levels go down at all? i.e; Do you stop growing hair on your chest, belly, and chin? Gynos and females with this problem/have had the same experience ONLY!

ksmudge3 replied: "No, actully excersizing and losing wieght increase testosterone levels. I would speak to a doctor about hormone treatments if you are worried about excess body hair."

So I have Gynecomastia, how would i be able to increase my testosterone and estrogen levels? I've been reading a lot about gynecomastia and how it's usually caused by low estrogen and testosterone levels. But i'm a VERY healthy person. I play soccer, 16 years old, 6'0 156 pounds or so. But everything i seem to eat doesn't help it at all. I don't have enough money to get surgery, and i don't know how else to help the gynecomastia. Helppp

tn_blu1 replied: "This is a problem that time will solve for most guys. I know that you want something that will work now, however. There are pre ion testosterone supplements available and I'm sure they would be a lot cheaper than surgery, which probably no surgeon would recommend for you anyway. There is a substance that will boost testosterone levels a little. It is DHEA and is available at pharmacies without a pre ion. Walmart pharmacies sell it for about $ 5 a bottle. Take one 25 mg pill once a day for no more than 3 weeks, then stop for a week before continuing. DHEA use is not really intended for guys your age, so I'm not recommending it to you. You really should see a physician and perhaps get a pre ion. Best wishes...."

Why have I got high Cortisol and low Testosterone levels? I have high Cortisol and low Testosterone levels. In all respects Im pretty healthy but have been feeling a little flat. Does anyone know A: what could cause these unusual hormone levels? and B: what sort of treatment is available? Im 35, work out 5 days per week and would like to get a bit more zing back into me. Thanks

AT replied: "Sometimes high cortisol can mean that you have a high level of stress, or experiencing more stress than normal. This in turn can cause other hormone levels to decrease such as decrease in testosterone due to stress."

levelhead replied: "try looking at Cushing's syndrome follow this link if it matches your features. "

What would explain fluctuating testosterone levels? My husband's testosterone level was 192 two weeks ago. We did a follow-up test exactly a week later and it came up as 709. What would explain this huge fluctuation. He's 31, otherwise healthy and not on any medications.

Pete, the Repeater replied: "May done some exercising during that time. More streneous physical activity Eating a healthier diet. taking supplements"

? replied: "due to getting older. fact; sperm count start decreasing when boys age over 25 it could be due to hormone imbalance. check with the doctor, it may be due to the gland from where it is produced"

sidney9435 replied: "testosterone is manufactured as men sleep at night...the level in the morning should be around 700....just as he wakes with a hefty erection..as the day goes on sex and exercise eats away at the levels in the blood so by bedtime the level is 200"

Doctors or Medical Staff only please! What does low testosterone levels indicate? 2 years of treatment w/ Androgel didn't work and testosterone shots have not been successful in raising the levels of testosterone either? 27 yr old healthy male. 6ft tall, 175 lbs, no history of problems until now. No drug use, no steroid use. What are the odds of this being cancer-related? (Testicular, pituitary tumor, prostate, etc.)

drbony replied: "don't fool around with hormones, they will cause more harm than good. low testosterone levels will not be significant( i.e. related to cancer) if you are healthy otherwise. may however result in low sperm count."

Stacey W replied: "Heard it could result in low bone density."

Barbia replied: "Talk to your doctor. "

quijibored replied: "This is an endocrinology problem and not cancer related. What are your symptoms? Low libido? What did your Dr say about why your testosterone levels did not increase? There is some missing information to this puzzle for anyone to be able to give you a good answer or opinion but I really doubt you have any type cancer because after two years you would be having severe and observable symptoms if you had cancer and apparently you are not. good luck in finding an answer"

Normal testosterone levels? Recently, I had my testosterone test done and I got a 20 nmol/l. The doctor said it was in the normal range, which was 10 - 29.5. I wanted to know if this is really normal, i.e. what are the testosterone levels of healthy men in my age group? I am 26.

Old Rocker replied: "I would get a second opinion because I have never heard that scale used before. Either men's health or Best life covered that issue of low T-levels this month. I was tested at 250 , at the bottom of "normal". My doctor put me on Androgel, 4 pumps a day, and now I'm at 850 and kicking ass"

? replied: "I am not familiar with your medical scale. My doctor uses a scale of 300-900. My testosterone level often falls well below the minimum (mine goes as low as 120), so I am on AndroGel also. We are trying to get to the 800 level, but I don't seem to get above 398. Therefore, I am using 2 packets/day. AndroGel, as well as Testim, come in pump and foil packet pre ions from a medical doctor."

Does anyone know whats the normal testosterone level for a normal, healthy female? women do hav low levels of testosterone thats why some r ,well more active (if ya know what i mean;)Because they have higher levels.

cyanne2ak replied: "75 and below."

amethystdragonfaerie replied: "Do women have testosterone? I don't think so"

wieser2007 replied: "if u r not a guy u have estgen not tesosterone"

Big fella replied: "Women do have testosterone, about 1/10th the amount men have - and testosterone can measured as both free and total womem make testosterone in the adrenal gland mostly and too a small extent ovaries a woman may have around 2-80 ng/ml free testosterone - it varies greatly and no more testosterone does not equal more butch! Interesting the amount varies through a woman's cycle and when she has more testosterone it does correlate with higher libido"

testosterone levels.? I'm a 16 year old male and recently ( 2 weeks ago) finished taking a testosterone supplement (Xtreme Tren) for a 4 week period. Now I read and realized the risk, but I am serious about Powerlifting and Bodybuilding. But my question is if my testosterone levels and estrogen levels will return to normal over time? (I used estrogen blockers with xtreme tren). Right now I can still feel the effects of not taking the supps. anymore. less Libido, aggression, and energy. I have heard of supplements like Tribulus Terrestris which promote HEALTHY testosterone production, but i also read it increases estrogen which i have enuf of because now that i dont take the blockers, my body overcompensates for estrogen. -WILL I GET MY REGULAR TEST. AND ESTROGEN LEVELS BACK. -ARE THERE ANY SUPPLEMENTS i SHOULD TAKE TO PROMOTE REGULAR LEVELS?

Ozone replied: "ur fuked prepare for big moobies"

Hikemike replied: "At 16, the last thing you need to worry about is test levels! Your natural test should be high enough. Taking test supps at your age could totally screw up your system to the point of NEEDING these supps. When you take test boosters, your body registers more test in your system, so it slows natural production or stops it all together! You don't want that!! That's why, when they say steroids "shrink your nut$" that's what has happened! Don't mess with this stuff, especially at your age, it's not worth it!"
