What are the side effects of taking testosterone supplements? Hey I've been trying to gain some weight so I've been going to the gym everyday. I work out hard and I come home sore. I take protein as well. But I'm not really seeing alotta results and a buddy of mine told me I could take a testosterone supplement or booster to help me out. What are the side effects of this and is it effective for the price?

If you get ahold of these (available over the counter), look for voice deepening, muscle building, groin and sexual enhancement. If you were over 40, you could get a doc to prescribe Testim or Androgel which are topical applications and do work well."

horst draper replied: "you still have testosterone in your body cos you are only 17 and still growing. don't even think about doing this until your older. if you want to build up get body fortress muscle & weight gainer from holland and barrett. use it as a supplement or aswell as your daily food intake, do your workout and see you build your muscles and get a bigger build."

It will cause your body to adjust to high levels of growth hormone which means the body will inhibit its own production of HGH, so when you come off them you will see massive weight loss and have trouble putting back on the mass. Side effects include drastic mood swings and severe liver damage when taking for a long period of time which you normally will to build suffdicient muscle. Try to work harder, eat more and use protein (which im guessing your already using), main thing in building muscle is eating as much as you can to provide sufficient nutrients for muscle growth."

kjw replied: "I can't think of any reason how it could effect tooth movement (I am assuming you are taking the testosterone to supplement low testosterone production.). Also, I assume your orthodontist will take a full medical history, so it's probably not an issue letting them know. If they don't know what meds you are taking, then you should probably run that by him/her. Take care."

They are mostly snake oil so don't waste your money. I have taken real testosterone prescribed by a MD and even the real thing doesn't do that much for building muscle or strength. It mostly only helps when your body is low on it's natural testosterone. But it sure makes you horny! :)"

What effects would testosterone supplements have on a 19 year old's appearance? I am 19, still going through puberty (as far as i can tell...) and I have a rather weak chin/jaw and large nose. I am also slender built and was wondering if taking testosterone supplements now while my body is still producing some would help make my facial features more masculine and perhaps add some muscle as well.
